OUR PROJECTS
Community Projects Funding
Over the last few years NCCBC has provided an annual grant of £5,000 to each of the eight villages and £10,000 to Maybole to fund, without the requirement for any match funding, to progress projects proposed by the Communities and recommended by “Local Panels” including Members of NCCBC in each place. This year the Community Projects Fund has been increased with £6k going to each village and £12k going to Maybole. Details below! CPF has been adapted to support the needs of each community and their organisations with the overarching principle being that decisions are made locally, by panels made up of NCCBC members and the wider community, chaired by an NCCBC director.
NCCBC’s Community Projects Funding has returned for another round in 2024, with each village encouraged to propose small projects for funding up to £6000 – where the village takes the lead on how they would like to utilise the funding. Some village panels have decide to use their full award for a single important project, while others have invited groups to apply for a smaller amount. All of our communities have taken up the offer and we can wait to see some of the lovely ideas come to life. Read more below about how the communities have decided to use their funding thus far:
STRAITON
The village groups and residents were encouraged to put forward suggestions as to how they would like to spend the £6,000 available to Straiton by NCCBC for 2024.
Suggestions were collated and the following were submitted to NCCBC and were approved –
Dog poo bag dispensers and supply of bags to hopefully help with the issue of dog fouling in the village
We are very grateful to NCCBC for this grant and look forward to installing all the above.
Eleanor Kerr – Panel Lead
KIRKMICHAEL
The seven person KCPF panel met early in the new year, reviewed the situation and agreed as to how to proceed with the allocation of the £6000 granted to the village and its rural hinterland by NCCBC. The procedure was similar to earlier years and involved advertising the fund Via Facebook, a comprehensive leafletting exercise and approaching all known village groups clubs.
On the submission deadline seven submissions were received totaling £9055. The panel then met to assess the applications. In the discussions it was established that two of the submissions (Bridge Club and Defib) could be funded separately from other sources. In two other submissions (Christmas lights and fridge for Café kitchen) the applicants were advised to reconsider the products they were considering.
As a result of these discussions the applications were brought within the overall budget and the following sums were agreed
These proposals were submitted to NCCBC, happily approval was given, and the monies have now been released. The panel would like to express their thanks to all who were involved and helped in the exercise!

Kirkoswald Maidens and Tunberry
This year Kirkoswald, Maidens and Turnberry are working together once more to allocate their CPF Funding. Their panel met to discuss a whole host of great projects. After a lot of discussion, the panel decided to offer funding to the below projects, however the KMT Development Trust hope to pursue several other projects with funding from other sources, which is great news for the communities. They also identified a few projects which they plan to pursue via the council, so watch this space!
Overall the funding agreed from CPF was;

The communities of Maybole, Minishant and Crosshill are very close to submitting their proposals for their CPF allocation, and we look forward to sharing their plans in the Autumn edition!

Foundations for Recovery
This project was funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund and NCCBC in 2021/22.
£50,000 of NCCBC funding awarded to match £515,000 from Community Renewal Fund.
NCCBC’s successful application for funding from the UK Government saw £565,000 invested to develop projects in North Carrick to the point where they are ready to be implemented. The money, which included a £50,000 contribution from North Carrick Community Benefit Company, was used for an intensive programme to convert community and business aspirations, ideas, and proposals into investment-ready projects. NCCBC employed consultants, engineers, architects, and other experts who worked on a range of projects covering tourism, community assets, and workforce development; with every community in North Carrick being involved in some way.
Cost of Living -2022
NCCBC was awarded funding from the Community Anchors Fund to help support people in our communities by helping to alleviate some of the immediate cost of living pressures. Up to £50,000 of NCCBC funding was awarded– to extend the reach and provide as much meaningful support as possible. This scheme has seen a selection of practical items given out, as well as the upcoming voucher scheme which will support those most in need via vouchers for their gas and electric.
Post Covid Recovery Funding
In March 2022 NCCBC created a programme to give one-off grants aimed at voluntary organisations and social enterprises based in North Carrick, and also local youth groups. North Carrick includes Maybole, Crosshill, Kirkmichael and Straiton, Minishant, Dunure and Kirkoswald Maidens and Turnberry. These grants were designed to support groups which: 1. Lease or own property and/or have responsibility for the running costs of premises, usually including employing staff, and 2. Have experienced significant strain caused by the pandemic. NCCBC also recently published a new Strategy for Youth in North Carrick, and all of our local youth organisations were offered post-covid kick-start support. NCCBC identified a list of 25 local groups spread across North Carrick, who received grants ranging from £1,000 up to £15,000. Over £85,000 was distributed and feedback has shown that these one-off grants have been pivotal in giving local venues and groups support to get started again, reopen their doors, and kick off their activities after a very turbulent couple of years.
