New Wheelyboat provides improved access for all angling club members!

Mochrum Angling Club are delighted with their new accessible boat which was part funded by North Carrick Community Benefit Company.

Mr Scobie from the club told us:

Brown trout Season re-opens 15th March and we will be training members in the use of the engine/boat in advance of the new season. It’s a beautiful piece of equipment and it is a major benefit to the club and disabled anglers from around the region.

Update on Heritage Enterprise Village (HEV) Project

The project to develop networks of local organisations, businesses, and attractions is well into its second year.

Local historian, Simon Glendenning, was appointed as the Heritage Enterprise Village Coordinator until the end of March 2025 and there is funding for another year after that.

In addition, there’s a promising opportunity for North Carrick to benefit from a community-led tourism initiative funded by ARIA and NCCBC. SCOTO’s “Press Pause” programme is working Press Pause, combined with the work being done in the HEV project, should help to maximise the benefits of tourism in North Carrick.

Maybole’s New Mercat Cross!

Well, the time has come to finally declare Bruce’s Web Interactive Arts and Augmented Reality Trail… OPEN!🎉
This morning we unveiled the final piece of the trail in ⭐Maybole⭐
This piece is a bit different to the others; our new Mercat Cross serves as a reminder of Maybole’s rich history as the ancient capital of Carrick. This piece was designed by another acclaimed local artist; John McKenna, who produced the pillar and the plaques under commission from Maybole Community Council. Funding was provided from a number of sources including the Scottish Government, Maybole Community Council, May-Tag and North Carrick Community Benefit Company.
The ‘Lion of Carrick’ on top links to the name given to Robert the Bruce, King of Scots; as the ‘Ancient Capital of Carrick’ Maybole is proud of the part it played in the story of one of Scotland’s greatest kings. You will find the ‘Lion of Carrick’ Mercat Cross pillar on the town’s High Street 🦁
Thank you to our local elected members and to Elena Whitham MSP for joining us this morning for the unveiling.
